Empowering a Generation
Young professionals receive critical skills in the design and construction of the Maju Expressway.
The Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) and local highway concessionaire Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd (MESB) a subsidiary of Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd, jointly organized a one-day seminar targeting young professionals in the engineering industry on 22 May 2007.
According to Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Hj. Omar, Executive Chairman of Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd, in today’s rapidly growing globalizing world, the public and private sectors must join forces towards accelerating Malaysia’s transition from a Production-economy to a Knowledge-economy by focusing on nurturing clever, creative and competitive human resources.
The seminar saw industry leaders such as HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI) and Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd contributing noteworthy papers on the design and construction of the 26km highway. The seminar concentrated on six topics.

- Concept of Value Engineering and Construction Efficiency in Viaduct / Bridge Design
- Caisson Design and Construction
- Construction Technique of Multi Span Bridge in Urban Areas
- Planning and Monitoring
- Safety Management
